The title University Professor is reserved for scholars of the highest international distinction who are recognized and honored as the top scholars on their campus and are respected as teachers of exceptional ability. Appointees to this title shall be distinguished members of the University of California Academic senate who hold the rank of full Professor, Above Scale. An appointment as University Professor does not alter the faculty member’s appointment on the home campus. An appointment to this title confers affiliation with the entire University of California. An appointment as University Professor is for an indefinite term unless rescinded by The Regents.
