Data & Reports

Our office handles a range of standard and ad hoc academic personnel reporting. Here you will find a few of those reports, access to an interactive UC dataset, and additional resources.

Academic Personnel Profiles

The profiles of UC Santa Cruz academic personnel described below are available as interactive datasets at the UC Information Center. To view UC Santa Cruz specific data, set the Location to ‘Santa Cruz’ in the desired dashboard.

Diversity

The UC Workforce Diversity Dashboard includes an “Academic” tab displaying current and historical views of academic personnel diversity by gender, race/ethnicity and citizenship, and age. Filter this dashboard by selecting ‘Santa Cruz’ from the location dropdown. Additional filters are available for academic categories and age groups, if desired.

Headcount and FTE

a sample of the academic personnel headcount data available via the UC Information center, showing counts of UC Santa Cruz academic personnel by category in April snapshots over five years.

The UC Employee Headcount Dashboard includes both headcount and full-time equivalent (FTE) views of April and October snapshots over time. Filter either view by selecting Personnel type ‘Academic’ and Location ‘Santa Cruz’. The visualization can be further filtered by personnel subtypes of senate or non-senate academics, and by full-time/part-time status.

The Headcount tab displays the number of unique employees by primary appointment in selected categories, as illustrated in the image above.

The FTE (Full-Time Equivalent) tab provides insight into the effective size of the workforce, representing the percent effort in each employee position.

Data Requests

Our office also responds to requests from other campus offices for academic personnel data. Requests may be directed to apo@ucsc.edu; we will review your request and be in touch with any questions. Please allow at least two weeks; turnaround may vary depending upon current workload and the nature of the request. Labor union requests should be directed to Labor Relations. Other external requests, and those not related to one’s UCSC job responsibilities, are handled by the Information Practices office; we recommend reviewing their FAQs on Public Records.
