Re: Issuance of Revised Campus Academic Personnel Manual (CAPM) 516.000 – Unit 18 Titles
Dear Colleagues:
I write to issue revised campus academic personnel policy (CAPM) 516.000, effective immediately. This revised policy is intended to bring campus policy into alignment with the new systemwide contract between the UC and the AFT which was ratified in December 2021.
The new policy is now posted at https://academicpersonnel.ucsc.edu/campus-academic-personnel-manual/516-000-unit-18-titles/.
The major changes to the policy, as previously noted at the time of campus review, include:
- Revised assessment and initial reappointment procedures for pre-six appointees
- New procedures for pre-six academic reviews and multi-year reappointments
- Revised procedures for promotion to Continuing Lecturer and continuing merits
- New procedures for reviews for promotion to Senior Continuing Lecturer
- New procedures for determining Unit 18 faculty pay periods
- Revised procedures for layoff and reduction in time
The proposed changes were announced on September 29, 2022, and feedback from campus responses was incorporated into the final version.
Questions may be directed to the Academic Personnel Office at apo@ucsc.edu.
Sincerely,
Lori Kletzer
Campus Provost and
Executive Vice Chancellor
