Re: Temporary Delegation of Authority for Salary Increases at Barrier Steps

Dear Colleagues:

Effective July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2024, I delegate authority to the deans to award off-scale salary increases for senate faculty of up to one step at the barrier steps of Associate Professor/Teaching Professor, Step 4, and Professor/Teaching Professor, Step 5, as a result of a merit review. This authority is limited to a senate faculty member’s first review in this period only, and should be applied consistent with the expectations outlined in my memo from May 11, 2021 – Addressing Impacts of COVID-19 in the Faculty Personnel Review Process.

This temporary delegation and exception to the barrier step salary limits detailed in CAPM 407.690 and 803.620 is in effect only through June 30, 2024, and does not change the need for CAP review. The campus Delegation of Authority Chart will be updated to note this temporary delegation. Please note that I am retaining authority for salary increases in excess of campus policy allowances at Professor, Step 9.

This authority may not be further redelegated.  Please contact apo@ucsc.edu if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Lori Kletzer
Campus Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor
