Addendum to the Negotiated Salary Program (NSP) Implementing Procedures

For participation years 25-26 and 26-27, in the event funding supporting a participant’s Negotiated Salary Component (NSC) is unexpectedly reduced, lost, or frozen during the participation year:

  1. The faculty participant will identify appropriate non-state alternative funding. If alternative funding is not available, the faculty member is responsible for immediately notifying the Department Chair and Dean.
  2. If the participant cannot identify appropriate replacement funds, the contingency fund will be used. (CAPM 810.672.II.H.2).
  3. If the contingency fund is insufficient due to increased demand, the division will identify alternative non-state funding.
  4. If the division cannot identify alternative funding, a reduction or cancellation of NSC may result, in accordance with APM-672-4a. Deans should notify the VPAA, who will have authority to reduce or cancel a participant’s NSC.

NSP applicants for the 2025-26 and 2026-27 plan years will be apprised of the change prior to any NSP agreements being finalized. The addendum will be reviewed in 2026-27 with full senate consultation, for possible incorporation as a permanent part of the UCSC Implementing Procedures.
