Related Topics
For participation years 25-26 and 26-27, in the event funding supporting a participant’s Negotiated Salary Component (NSC) is unexpectedly reduced, lost, or frozen during the participation year:
- The faculty participant will identify appropriate non-state alternative funding. If alternative funding is not available, the faculty member is responsible for immediately notifying the Department Chair and Dean.
- If the participant cannot identify appropriate replacement funds, the contingency fund will be used. (CAPM 810.672.II.H.2).
- If the contingency fund is insufficient due to increased demand, the division will identify alternative non-state funding.
- If the division cannot identify alternative funding, a reduction or cancellation of NSC may result, in accordance with APM-672-4a. Deans should notify the VPAA, who will have authority to reduce or cancel a participant’s NSC.
NSP applicants for the 2025-26 and 2026-27 plan years will be apprised of the change prior to any NSP agreements being finalized. The addendum will be reviewed in 2026-27 with full senate consultation, for possible incorporation as a permanent part of the UCSC Implementing Procedures.
